I really loaded up on organic strawberries the last time I went grocery shopping, so I have yet another strawberry recipe to share with you!
Strawberries are full of vitamin C, and we all know what that means – a nice healthy boost to our immune system! That nice boost to the immune system along with the antioxidants lutein and zeathancins and the phytochemical ellagic acid which strawberries contain make this yummy fruit excellent for fighting and preventing cancer. Some other health benefits of strawberries include
- fights bad cholesterol
- promotes eye health
- helps fight wrinkles providing younger looking skin
- ease inflammation
- good for weight loss
- regulates blood pressure
- boosts short term memory
- promotes bone health
Who would have thought that these little morsels of delight could provide all these excellent health benefits while tasting like a little piece of heaven. Thus, this smoothie tastes divine and provides a powerful bunch of health benefits thanks to the strawberries and other healthy ingredients!
SIMPLE STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE
Ingredients (makes 1 smoothie):
- About 7 very large strawberries
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- Alcohol free vanilla (small amount – about 1/2 tsp.)
- Stevia – just a pinch (optional)
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
Directions:
1.) Put all ingredients in a blender and blend till smooth. If you want it to have more of a shake consistency, you could add some ice and a small amount of full fat coconut milk from a can.
2.) Pour into a glass and enjoy!
