Homemade Non-Toxic Jewelry Cleaner

So, today, I was admiring my wedding ring, and I notice it was looking pretty grimy. I didn’t have any jewelry cleaner on hand, so I decided to figure something out myself. The good news is that I figured out a great jewelry cleaner that can be made at home, which also means it can be made without any questionable ingredients, and it works! I’m super excited to share this fabulous recipe that works wonders for jewelry with you!

Okay, for real, here is a pic after I cleaned the ring, you can see how great it looks!

While trying to come up with my perfect recipe, I remembered that I have a great recipe for glass cleaner, and I figured some of its ingredients could come in useful here. That is, the cornstarch I add to my homemade glass cleaner really gives my mirrors an amazing shine and clarity, so I figured it could lend a hand here as well. I settled on the following ingredients: baking soda, cornstarch, water, and vinegar. I was really pleased with the result!

HOMEMADE NON-TOXIC JEWELRY CLEANER

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 Tbsp. Corn Starch
  • 1-2 Tbsp. White Vinegar

Directions:

1.) Place your water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.

2.) Remove from heat and add the baking soda, cornstarch, and vinegar.  It will get all fizzy and stuff – super fun, I felt like a kid in chemistry class!  Stir until the cornstarch and baking soda are dissolved.

3.) Place your jewelry in the pan and let it soak for 10 minutes.

4.) Remove your jewelry from the pan, and use a soft bristle toothbrush to scrub the jewelry.

5.) Rinse the jewelry in water and place on a dishtowel to dry.

That’s it!  You’re all done, and your jewelry is shining like new!  Enjoy! 🙂
